Responsive + Contextual + Co-Creative

Even with plenty of similarities to other churches, your congregation's needs are unique. The work we do will utilize tools and frameworks that have helped other churches, and we adapt those in whatever ways work best for you. I don't come in with a set of step-by-step instructions to "fix your problem." Instead, we "make the path by walking" together. This approach also strives for cultural competency, honoring the full spectrum of identities within your beloved community. I also take a "coach approach" through much of the process, trusting that the true expertise is already among your group.

Balancing Intentionality + Efficiency

Part of my job is to work myself out of a job! Yet, that doesn't mean we rush things. In order for our discernment to be thorough and our future possibilities to be achievable and sustainable, we need to consider and explore various paths, allow space for the sharing of various perspectives, and give the Holy Spirit time to share Her wisdom.

Pastoral + Spiritual Lens

Throughout, I keep the perspective that this is faith-based, faith-led work. This means we frequently ask ourselves what God is calling us to do, be, and become. Additionally, discernment and transitional work can also surface grief, which often requires a pastoral response.

Candidness + Integrity + Covenant

I view my contract with clients as covenantal, and far more than a business agreement. If at any time I sense that I am not serving you well or that I am not able to fulfill my commitment to you, I will tell you. Likewise, if you feel that I am not meeting your expectations, I will receive and honor that feedback. Scripture calls us to address conflicts directly with a grace-filled heart (Matthew 18:15-16), and I'm all about trying to work things out.

I am also faithful to my covenant as an Authorized Minister (ordained pastor) in the United Church of Christ, and I feel strongly that our work together is in accordance with and communication with relevant denominational and covenantal entities, following denominational polity.

Project-Based Rates + Billable Hours

In many cases, my requested compensation for the work will be based on the nature and scope of the entire engagement. However, some projects will be better-suited to billable hours. Your stated goals, hopes, and expectations inform both my estimate of the necessary average work hours per week and the duration of the project. I do strive to make my services financially accessible and realistic. On a practical level, I work as a contractor/1099, which means straight compensation without benefits. I can provide invoices and receipts, and work within your current accounts payable/receivable system.

What About Working With Individuals + Organizations That Are Not Faith-Based?

While the bulk of my work and experience is within the faith-based sector, I am more than happy to explore working with “secular” organizations, nonprofits, and individuals. The need for discernment and transformation is not limited to the church!
